Remi ("the app") is a medication reminder app published by Rango. This policy explains what information the app handles and what it does not.
Information the app stores on your device
To do its job, Remi saves the following on your phone only:
- Medication names, dosages, schedules, and notes you enter
- A dose history (taken / skipped / missed) generated as you use the app
- Optional photos you attach to medications or prescriptions
- Optional profile name and photo for each person you track
- Saved prescriptions ("resetas"), including any photos you add
- App settings (active profile, notification preferences, etc.)
This data is held in a local database and the app's private file storage. It is never uploaded to Rango, to any server we control, or to any third party.
Information the app does NOT collect
- No name, email, phone number, or other contact details
- No location data
- No device identifiers (advertising ID, IMEI, etc.)
- No microphone or camera access except when you explicitly pick a photo through the system photo picker
- No contacts, calendar, SMS, or call-log access
Permissions the app requests, and why
| Permission | Why Remi asks for it |
|---|---|
| Notifications | To show medication reminders. |
| Schedule exact alarms | So dose alarms fire at the exact scheduled minute, even when the device is idle. |
| Foreground service / full-screen intent | To keep alarms ringing reliably until you tap Taken or Skip. |
| Run at startup | To re-arm scheduled reminders after a reboot. |
| Photos / media (read) | Only when you tap "Add photo" for a medication, prescription, or profile picture. The photo you pick is copied into the app's private storage. |
| Save to gallery | Only when you tap "Save to device" on a prescription image. |
You can revoke any of these in your device's Settings → Apps → Remi → Permissions. Revoking notification or alarm permissions will stop reminders from firing.
Cloud backup to your own Google Drive (optional)
Remi includes an optional cloud-backup feature. It is off by default and the app works fully without it. If you turn it on, Remi asks you to sign in with Google and then saves a backup of your Remi data into a private, app-specific folder in your own Google Drive.
- Scope requested: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata — access limited to Remi's own hidden App Data folder. Remi cannot see or touch the rest of your Drive.
- What is backed up: your medications, dose history, prescriptions and their photos, profile names and photos, and app settings, bundled into a single backup file.
- Why: so you can restore your data on a new phone. That is the only purpose.
- Where it goes: only into your own Google Drive App Data folder, tied to your Google account. It is hidden from your normal Drive view and is private to the Remi app.
When you sign in, Remi receives a Google authorization token (and your account's basic identity) only to read and write that backup folder. Rango operates no servers that receive your data. We never receive, store, read, sell, or share the contents of your backup. You can turn cloud backup off, sign out, and delete the backup from your Drive at any time.
Remi's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Backups you create yourself
Remi also lets you export your profile data to a file you can share or store wherever you want (email, cloud drive, USB, etc.). Once a backup leaves the app it is under your control; this policy no longer applies to the copy you saved or sent.
Children's privacy
Remi is intended for adults managing medication for themselves or for someone they care for. The app does not knowingly collect information from children, because it does not collect any information from anyone.
Security
Because Remi stores data only on your device, the security of that data depends on the security of your phone: a screen lock, OS updates, and physical possession of the device. We recommend enabling a screen lock.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at the same URL and the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
